Capital Normal University (CNU) is a national “Double-First Class” university co-sponsored both by the Beijing Municipal Government and the Ministry of Education (MOE). CNU offers multiple disciplines including literature, science, engineering, management, law, education, foreign language and art etc. CNU is one of the earliest universities in China to carry out international student education. Now, CNU is entitled to Demonstration Base for International Students Education of Ministry of Education, Preparatory Education for International Students, Talent Training Base for "Belt and Road" Countries, HSK Testing Center and Beijing Chinese Language Education Base. All majors and levels of the school are open to international students.
I. Introduction
Chinese Government Scholarship-Silk Road Scholarship Program is a full scholarship established by Ministry of Education of China to support Chinese universities to attract outstanding international students from Belt and Road Countries to study in China. CNU is one of the prestigious universities designated to undertake this program to recruit undergraduate students for studying Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral Programs.
II. Eligibility
1. Applicant must be a citizen along Belt and Road (other than the People’s Republic of China), and be in good health. (Reference: https://www.yidaiyilu.gov.cn/)
2. Requirements for Applicants' Education and Age:
1) In order to pursue a bachelor's degree in China, candidates must hold a high school diploma and be aged below 25;
2) To pursue a master's degree in China, candidates must possess a bachelor's degree and be aged below 35;
3) Applicants must hold a master's degree and be aged below 40.

Requirements for Applicants' Language Proficiency:
1) Candidates for bachelor's degree programs taught in Chinese must achieve a score of 180 in the HSK3 exam; those applying for master's and doctoral degrees taught in Chinese must secure 180 points in the HSK4 exam;
2) Applicants seeking to teach in English must provide evidence of their language proficiency, such as IELTS or TOEFL transcripts.

This program is exclusively for international freshmen, and fresh undergraduate or master's degree graduates are also eligible to apply.

Individuals who have not secured any scholarships provided by the Chinese government at various levels, as well as the admitting institutions, and those who intentionally hide their financial support, are barred from applying for Chinese government scholarships for a period of three years, except in cases of disqualification.

V. Application Procedure
Applicants must truthfully fill in and submit application materials on the registration website:
1. Applicants need to go to the "Study in China" website, click on the "Chinese Government Scholarship Study in China Management Information System" icon to enter the application system, complete the registration, choose the "Type B" study program category, fill in and submit the application information online, and upload electronic versions of the required documents according to the checklist. 2. After applicants complete the registration on the China Scholarship Council's "Study in China Online Application System," they also need to log in to Capital Normal University's International Student Management Service Platform for registration and upload electronic versions of the required documents according to the checklist. Note: Applicants who have been pre-admitted to CNU and will directly entry major study in September of 2024 are required to participate in “The Academic Proficiency Entrance Test for International Undergraduates” organised by the CSC, details of which will be announced further.
VI. Application Documents
List of Materials:
1. Copy of the first page of a valid ordinary passport (the passport should be valid later than September 2024);
2. The highest academic certificate notarized by the notary office recognized by the judicial department. If the applicant is a graduate, the applicant should submit the expected graduation certificate issued by his/her university;
3. Academic transcripts (from the undergraduate stage). Chinese/English transcripts can be provided. If they are in languages other than English, English translations should be provided and notarized;
4. Study plan in China. (No less than 1,500 words for doctoral degree, no less than 1,000 words for master degree), written in Chinese or English, it is necessary to state your educational background, understanding of China and your major, planning for future study, etc., focusing on academic ability and scientific research level. The study plan submitted by doctoral candidate applicants must be signed and confirmed by the tutor that our school intends to accept;
5. Referrals. Two letters of recommendation from two professors or associate professors of related disciplines must be provided, which shouldbe written in Chinese or English. The content should focus on the requirements of the applicant's study objectives in China, the cooperation between Chinese institutions or Chinese tutors and foreign tutors or inter-school exchanges, and the evaluation of students' comprehensive ability and future development;
6. Proof of language ability. Applicants applying for Chinese as the professional medium of instruction should provide an HSK test report within the validity period. Applicants applying for English-taught program should provide IELTS or TOEFL transcripts. Those who have used Chinese as the teaching language to obtain a degree from a Chinese university do not need to provide HSK test report;
7. "Physical Examination Form for Foreigners", the examination results are valid for 6 months;
8. Proof of no criminal record, usually within 6 months before the date of submission of the application;
Note:
1) The materials uploaded through the system must be clear, true and effective. It is recommended that the applicant use professional equipment to scan the relevant documents to be submitted, and the consequences caused by unclear or unrecognizable materials shall be borne by the applicant.
2) All materials must be uploaded to the application system through electronic documents, and there is no need to send the original or photocopy to our school by express delivery.

VIII. Approval & Notification
The International Student Admission Office of College of International Education will organize relevant colleges to conduct interviews and written examinations for applicants, and select international students with excellent discipline background, professional ability and future development potential.
By the end of June, the school finalizes the scholarship recommendation list and submits it to the China Scholarship Council (CSC). CSC reviews the school admission results to determine the list of admissions. By the end of July, admission notices and the "Visa Application for Study in China" form (JW201 form) will be issued to the admitted students.
Please note that the final admission decisions are subject to the expert review results from the CSC.
