On the afternoon of March 29, Fang Fuquan, President and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, visited the School of International Culture and had discussions and exchanges with international student representatives.

On behalf of CNU, Fang Fuquan extended a warm welcome and sincere greetings to the international students from all over the world. President Xi Jinping has made many replies to international students in China, full of care, love and concern for them. Hu Lingyue and Song Zhixiao, Hungarian students currently studying in CNU, sent a letter to President Xi Jinping and his wife Professor Peng Liyuan on behalf of all the students of CNU and received a reply. He said that CNU has attached great importance to the education of international students in China, with the hope that the students can cherish their youth, absorb knowledge extensively, strive to learn Chinese well, comprehensively improve themselves, and grow into goodwill messengers of cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries.

Hungarian undergraduate students Hu Lingyue and Song Zhixiao, Egyptian doctoral student Luo Na, Indonesian master's student Zhuo Manting, Italian Chinese language student Fu Lang, Costa Rican preparatory student He Lin, Panamanian preparatory student Ruth, Egyptian graduate student Liu Ruixi, and Indonesian scholar Fan Yuneng respectively delivered a speech.

After listening to the exchanges and sharing of the international students, Fang Fuquan praised the international students' Chinese expressions for not only being proficient and accurate, but also beautiful and elegant, which fully reflected their skillful mastery of Chinese and their in-depth understanding of Chinese culture. He said that the international students are all outstanding young people with great ambitions and versatile talents, and put forward three hopes: first, he hopes to communicate with international students often and listen to their feelings and experiences of studying and living in CNU; second, he hopes that international students will strengthen exchanges and interactions with Chinese students during their time in school, participate in various cultural performances and artistic activities of CNU, improve their artistic literacy and understand Chinese culture; and third, he hopes that international students will do whatever they can to promote cultural exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations between China and foreign countries.
